Founded in 1849, WCMSSM is one of Michigan's oldest and most active medical societies. Its mission is to promote the highest standards of medical practice and ethics, advocate for physicians and patients, and advance public health.
WCMSSM provides members with legislative support, continuing education, networking opportuntities, and community outreach programs.
As one of the largest county medical socities in Michigan, WCMSSM represents a diverse community of physicians across all specialties — united by a shared commitment to excellence in medicine and the health of Wayne County residents

Gaurav Sharma, MD - Pathology
2025 - 2026 President, Wayne County Medical Society of Southeast Michigan
Dr. Gaurav Sharma is a Clinical and Molecular Pathologist and Vice Chair of Clinical
Pathology at Henry Ford Health in Detroit, Michigan. He completed his medical
education and training at the University of Delhi, Henry Ford Hospital, the University of
Pittsburgh, and the University of Michigan. He holds board certifications in Anatomical-
Clinical Pathology, Molecular-Genetic Pathology, and Clinical Informatics.
